Industrial wick applications have a long history, from oiling moving parts of automation machinery, lubricating gears and bearings, steam engines, heavy machinery, and maritime uses.

 Slowly dispensing a measured amount of lubricant on precision-turned journals to lessen wear and prolong life. They are also used in the automotive industry between sheet metal components as a packing to prevent wear rattling between parts and to contain engine fumes.

Used in laboratory testing equipment, fractionation and heating test equipment like Bunsen burners are often used in off-grid research, remote surgeries, sterilization equipment units, autoclaves, and laundries.

As the heat source known to the physics principle of absorption refrigeration evaporation, it is suited to remote areas for cold chain vaccine distribution and immunization programs.

For filtration of hydrocarbons and containment of chemical spills, as a method to increase humidity in hatcheries, and for historical preservation projects.

Modified wick webbing is sewn into materials such as ripstop nylon and rubber to reinforce car hoods, Dacron sailcloth-type fabrics, increase strength, improve grip on pull cords and emergency activation and restraint devices for transportation of cargo, wider woven wick for furniture lumbar support repairs.
